Review of Madventure Istanbul to Beijing 2025

What a ride! It delivered what it said on the tin and so much more.

This was our first major trip, we’d done three weeks in Iceland with Madventure, but this was so much bigger.

Yes we had all the seasons, everything from being blocked in by an avalanche in Georgia, to exploring in the Gobi desert. We had some lows ( D&V near the start followed by flu) and so many highs, and so many experiences we couldn’t have had otherwise.

I wasn’t sure why it was labelled an expedition to start with. However, I soon realised every tour is different trying to learn from previous ones or add new experiences in. Also the geographical and political landscapes keep changing. It can lead to a few dodgy moments and things go wrong, but that is the adventure.

Memorable moments –

Completing the cooking of our meal while everyone slowly packed up as the Tajikistan soldiers weren’t happy with us that close to the Afghanistan border for the night. It all came together and I dished up the bowls as everyone climbed back on the truck and the final parts of the kitchen were packed away.

Getting stuck in the mud in no man’s land between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. The driver’s other choice might have had us off the edge, so getting stuck was preferable. We all weighed in collecting rocks or digging to get us out, and cheered on completion.

Chinese cultural show,it was amazing!

Camping next to the great wall, it was so cool, and getting inspected by the police there.

Grabbing a tuk tuk ride, and hurtling up the wrong side of the dual carriage way.

Sitting in Khiva watching the sun set.

We would never have been to these places or had these adventures without Madventure.

Thankyou
