We were treated to a late start today. Breakfast at 7am and leaving at 8am, a treat! We headed off for the excitement of bubbling mud. Call me sad but this is something I’ve always wanted to see.

After this it was on to Husavik for whale watching. This is something I have looked forward to and also dreaded as I definitely not a sailor. I had packed mu travel sickness tablets and I double checked them this morning and made sure I took them well before the trip.

We set up early at the campsite at lunchtime. Which gave us a chance to look around town before sailing. I chose to look around the whale museum. I discovered whales go to the waters around Iceland to feed and build up weight. They have to go south to the carribean to give birth and allow the pups to build up some blubber before returning.

We had thick waterproofs on for the whale watching trip. After our first sighting of a small bit of whale I was disappointed. However that was just the start we saw loads of whales, many more than I expected.

The were also lots of puffins nearby.

It was the towns annual festival AND a Saturday which was lovely to see but worrying with a 5am wakeup at the campsite. We all went to bed around 8pm and enjoyed music all evening with fireworks at the end of the festivities.
